'Lifeline' roads slowly get cleared in Olympia | Transportation
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Here's the latest from the city on the roads:
Olympia Roads:
• State and 4th Avenues on the eastside and Harrison on the westside are open.
• Lakeridge (Courthouse) hill, Raft and most other hills are closed.
• City street crews are focusing on lifeline roads – the main Olympia roads and hills used by police, fire and transit. Crews will not be able to work on any secondary or neighborhood collector roads until after the snow stops and lifeline roads are passable. Olympia has five dump trucks outfitted with snow plows to cover the entire city.
• To report fallen limbs or trees on City streets, call Public Works Dispatch at 753-8333.
• As plows push snow to the side of the road, snow berms will form and may block side streets and driveways and push some snow onto sidewalks. Property owners are responsible for clearing their driveways and sidewalks next to their property.City Services:
• City Hall will open at 8:00 a.m. with limited staffing depending on who is able to make it to work.
• Olympia Municipal Court is closed.
• Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday is postponed.
• Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation classes are cancelled.
• Priest Point Park, Watershed Park and Trail, Garfield Nature Trail, and West Bay Park are closed.
• Garbage Collection: The County Waste Recovery Center is closed. Olympia trucks are equipped with chains, and crews will pick up from as many Wednesday customers as possible until all the trucks are full. At that point, they will stop Wednesday collection until the Waste Recovery Center reopens. Please leave uncollected carts at the curb for pick up later this week.
